Chelsea and other Premier League clubs are keen on signing Real Madrid legend Keylor Navas

Chelsea and other Premier League clubs are interested in signing former Real Madrid star Keylor Navas, who is expected to leave Nottingham Forest.

According to Foot Mercato, (h/t Sun), Navas wants to stay in the English Premier League, despite interest from Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Brentford, and Leicester.

According to the source, his hefty pay and lofty objectives will make him unlikely to remain by Steve Cooper’s side. After losing his spot at Paris Saint-Germain to Gianluigi Donnarumma, the four-time Champions League winner joined Forest in January.

And the former Real Madrid shot-stopper has shown no signs of slowing down, playing 17 games and contributing significantly to Forest’s survival in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Chelsea have made acquiring a custodian a priority following the poor performances of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy.

Mendy appears to be leaving the club in the summer, and Chelsea are wary of Kepa, who has struggled this season. The Blues have also expressed interest in signing Andre Onana, although no offer has been made as of yet.

In addition, incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino has requested that the club bring in a quality custodian for next season.

Navas appears to be too old for us; he is 36 and not getting any younger, but he still has phenomenal ability and can play for another 2–3 years.

He has been terrific between the sticks, making numerous vital saves, and despite being 36 years old, he is still performing at the top of his game. The example of Gigi Buffon, David Ospina and Guillermo Ochoa shows that age doesn’t matter for a goalie if they maintain their shape.

More Chelsea News:

It would be prudent to seek a young and talented custodian who can commit to the club for at least five to six years but if no one can be found right now, or our preferred targets don’t want to move to a struggling Chelsea this summer, then Navas, who won three UEFA Champions League titles with Real Madrid, could be a smart short-term solution.
