Chelsea keen to sign Jordan Pickford next season

Chelsea have added Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to their list of custodians the Blues will look to sign in the summer transfer window. Chelsea brought in Robert Sanchez and Dorde Petrovic last summer, but both shot-stoppers seem to have failed to convince the club.

And according to TalkSport, (h/t Daily Express), the West Londoners are keeping tabs on the England international as the Toffees potential takeover talks continue. However, the Blues will have to first free up space if they wish to bring the Everton goalie next season.

A report confirms the Spanish goalkeeper has been tipped to leave the club after just 12 months at Chelsea, as his performance hasn’t impressed people in higher positions, which has seen Petrovic occupy Sanchez’s spot between the sticks.

But the Serbian keeper could also lose his No. 1 spot if Chelsea decides to bring in a new goalkeeper, as they have also added the likes of AC Milan’s Mike Maignan and Porto star Diogo Costa. Thus, it remains to be seen who the Blues try to sign in the summer.

The club will also have to deal with Kepa Arrizabalaga’s future, who is likely to return to Chelsea once his Real Madrid loan spell is over after the Spanish club confirmed they won’t retain the former Athletic Bilbao goalie after the conclusion of the season.

Chelsea have targeted Jordan Pickford for next season.

Thus, if we look to bring Pickford, we will have to first at least free up space, as he will certainly be our starting goalkeeper, and the England international addition brings massive solidity between the sticks; he has been excellent for the Toffees this season. The 28-year-old stands seventh on the table for most saves this season and fourth in most clean sheets in the Premier League this campaign.

He has been England’s No.1 goalkeeper despite the three Lions having plenty of options the goalie has appeared in 60 games for the national team. He is performing highly for Everton, who have been sub-par and were deducted points by the league twice this season. He also possesses captainship qualities and has Premier League experience, making him one of top custodians in the English top-flight league.
