Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has dismissed Jack Grealish’s links to Chelsea and claims it’s all quiet as Manchester City have not held talks over the future of the English international star internally.
The former Aston Villa forward has been linked with a move to Chelsea, but Romano’s words on these latest rumours put an end to the report, as City wants to keep the 28-year-old after breaking the British transfer record to sign him for £100m from the Villains.
Since his move to City, the forward has failed to emulate his Villa form for Pep Guardiola’s side, scoring three goals in 19 appearances in the Premier League and failing to live up to his substantial price tag. However, Grealish seems to have also fallen down the pecking order after City decided to bring in Jeremy Doku.
The forward-facing competition with the Belgium player to remain a regular starter under the Spanish manager. But despite his poor form in the city, Guardiola has continued to keep faith in the Englishman and Romano’s latest comments on his Chelsea rumours put an end to all the buzz after he revealed in his Daily Briefing column, where he said:
“I’m aware there have been some slightly surprising links with Jack Grealish. However, I have zero information on this: Manchester City are not discussing Grealish’s future, not even internally at this point in the season. It’s all quiet.”
If Chelsea tries to bring Grealish in, will he be an ideal option for the attacking side? He will be because he has been shown what he is capable of in free-flowing football. Maybe Guardiola couldn’t get the best of him at City, which could be the reason he has struggled to make a reasonable impact during his time at City.
We witnessed his greatness and his ability to bring about change at Villa. He demonstrated to us why he is among the best football players with his boundless zeal. If Chelsea are successful in getting him to Stamford Bridge, perhaps Mauricio Pochettino can help him get back on track. We have done it with Cole Palmer, so why not Grealish?
