Injured Chelsea defensive star set to miss the start of the 2023/24 season

Chelsea star Benoit Badiashile could miss the start of the 2023/24 season

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea centre-back Benoit Badiashile is expected to miss the beginning of the 2023/24 season owing to a groin injury. The 22-year-old picked up the injury last week and missed a training session before Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Manchester City.

He was supposed to undergo surgery today, but will now miss four months, which might include the start of the new manager’s preseason.

Despite appearing in a few games this season, the French international has been recognized by Pochettino as potentially one of his key players and the Argentine coach may be without him for the first few months of his tenure.

Chelsea’s season has been blighted by injuries, which have also severely affected their performance across all competition. With nothing left to play for bar pride, Badiashile’s absence will not impact us much this season.

This is terrible news for the defender, considering that he has performed admirably in every game in which he has started. A promising player, he has what it takes to become a mainstay at the back for the Blues for years to come.

Chelsea players are becoming more prone to injuries, and the club’s medical staff may be to blame given the injury crisis the team has been experiencing since the World Cup. Hopefully, we allow the youngster to get back into shape before bringing him back into the fold.

Thiago Silva is ageing while Kalidou Koulibaly hasn’t really stood out with his performances. Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, and Levi Colwill could have a bigger role to play next season.

We made the right choice in loaning him out, and he has developed into a top-notch defender. However, the club must examine why players routinely sustain injuries while receiving good care.
