Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has hinted at a possible Summer exit, according to the Evening Standard. The 29-year-old holds a contract with the Blues until 2023 and has been linked with a return to his former club Real Madrid.
Speaking ahead of Europa League final clash, Alonso said, (h/t Evening Standard)
“I am very happy here but we will see what happens this summer.”
And his comments imply the tinge of uncertainty about his Stamford Bridge future. Later, the Spaniard rescinded further speculations by saying he wants to focus on the upcoming final at Baku.
“But first of all, I’m focussing on the final. I am very happy to have four more years here and hopefully, I will stay many more years here.”
Alonso has fallen down the pecking order lately, with Maurizio Sarri prioritizing Emerson as the starter.
At the same time, the former Bolton player struggled to find his form this season. Yet, his contribution remained valuable for the Blues as he bagged 4 goals and 7 assists across all competitions this season.
Alonso had previously played for Fiorentina and Sunderland (on loan) prior to his Stamford Bridge move in 2015. And the full-back earned his maiden international call-up last year for Spain.
After being left out of the starting line-up by the Italian manager for the past few games, Alonso still fears whether it will continue for the Europa League final against Arsenal.
