Chris Sutton gives his prediction for Sheffield United vs Chelsea; tells 2 things Blues must do to ensure victory

Chelsea aims for consistency against Sheffield United

It was a thrilling game in the midweek that has got confidence and belief extending at Stamford Bridge as Cole Palmer helped Chelsea win over Manchester United in the dying minutes, although the Blues cannot afford to gloat over the Red Devils win as Mauricio Pochettino prepares to visit Sheffield United in short turnaround time.

While those were some scenes that could get into the highlights of the season for a Chelsea fan, the West Londoner’s performances against the top teams have not been a concern this season. The consistency has made the ongoing campaign a challenging one. You could walk back to Chelsea’s last weekend’s draw to relegation heading Burnley to contend with these inconsistencies.

While thinking about the consistency, or inconsistency in that matter, Chelsea visit Bramall Lane to face Chris Wilder’s side, who performed admirably against Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday. They took the league leaders very deep and caused multiple problems. That is what Pochettino and his squad need to vary about going into the weekend.

BBC Sport Columnist Chris Sutton, in his column predicting the outcome of the upcoming Premier League games, wrote about the Sheffield vs Chelsea fixture. In his opinion, the Blues’ are still learning under the Argentine coach and he need to ensure that going into the fixture, the West Londoners maintain their focus and maintain their intensity. Sutton wrote (via. BBC):

“The way I’d describe Chelsea right now is as a team that is still learning. Pochettino has made some pretty pointed comments about how his players need to work as hard out of possession as they do when they have the ball, and that applies whoever the opposition are.”

“They should really beat bottom side Sheffield United but they need to keep their focus and maintain their intensity.”

As he stated, the Blues need to ensure that they take on the game and not get carried away celebrating the United win. The Blades are fighting for survival and they will throw their heads and bodies to assure they take away something out of the fixture.
