“Not all my potential”- Resurgent Chelsea forward says fans are yet to see his best

Mykhaylo Mudryk assures Chelsea fans that they are yet to witness his full potential

Chelsea star Mykhaylo Mudryk has promised the Blues fans that they are yet to witness his true potential after the youngster scored a wonderful goal in their 4-3 pre-season win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 22-year-old joined Chelsea for £89 million in January but struggled to assert his influence throughout the season. He failed to score in 17 matches for the Blues, which saw Chelsea finish 12th in Premier League and fail to qualify for Europe let alone the UEFA Champions League.

However, during those games, he only showed flashes of brilliance. A summer showing with the Ukraine youth side coupled with a strong pre-season with the Blues so far could see a resurgent star don the Blues jersey for the 2023-24 season.

Next season will be an important campaign for the forward and new manager Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea get underway in their re-building phase. We open the 2023/24 season against Liverpool on 13th August and will be facing another side keen to rebuild after a forgettable campaign.

Speaking after the game, Mudryk gave Chelsea fans optimism and assured them that they would get see the best of him, (h/t Daily Mail), he said:

”I feel happy for all the work I put into this goal. It is not all my potential. It is only 20 percent. I feel good because we are playing under Pochettino, our manager. It is nice, it is enjoyable, and it is a new team, which is also enjoyable.”

Players need to exhibit this level of confidence, and Mudryk exudes it more than ever right now. It appears like Pochettino has been working his magic on him, and we should be hoping to see him reach his peak next season. It is time he showed why we broke the bank to secure his signature last January. The sooner he can prove his detractors wrong, the easier it will be for him to make a difference on the field.

Mudryk has tremendous potential. He is only 22 years old, and will undoubtedly become prominent sooner rather than later with a manager who is right for him. We are looking forward to his chemistry with Nicolas Jackson next season, as they combined superbly in the game against Brighton before scoring the goal. His agility and ability to link up plays are genuinely amazing and could be a sign of things to come.
