Chelsea are open to paying €90 million for Moises Caicedo’s acquisition
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes.net, Chelsea are willing to table €90 million for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, who has emerged as the club’s primary signing.
The 21-year-old has been a top target for the Blues to reinforce their defensive midfield, as they currently don’t have a holding midfielder since the departure of N’Golo Kante.
The West Londoners have sold a healthy amount of midfielders such as Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount, and Mateo Kovacic and now only have Conor Gallagher and Enzo Fernandez as first-team midfielders at their disposal. Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei and Andrey Santos are yet to be tested at the top level.
The Ecuadorian is also leaning towards a move to Stamford Bridge, as he made clear in his recent interview regarding joining Chelsea, and now only the Blues will have to reach an agreement with Brighton to complete the deal.
What next for Moises Caicedo?
However, the Blues and Brighton are still in talks, and the transfer is not imminent despite Chelsea reaching a personal agreement with the midfielder.
The Seagulls are demanding €100million for the midfielder, which the Blues have so far shown an unwillingness to match, and their pursuit for the midfielder seems to be taking way longer than expected.
It remains to be seen if Brighton will be open to entertaining the Blues’ aforementioned potential offer for the player. They are making it difficult to close the deal and are adamant about wanting a hefty price for the midfielder.
The addition of a player of Caicedo’s level is an enormous leap over our very weak and frequently outmuscled midfield from last season. But it could take time, which is why we have to be patient. It is wise to remember that the summer transfer window is still far from over.

Chelsea’s apparent willingness to table a €90m offer shows their seriousness in signing the South American talent. But given our history of splurging big on young players from teams across the globe under Todd Boehly’s ownership, Brighton may want to stick to the price tag they have quoted.
