Chelsea stall 22-year-old versatile forward’s summer exit to London rival

Chelsea have stalled the Callum Hudson-Odoi transfer to Fulham over the asking price

According to Express, Chelsea have now stalled the Callum Hudson-Odoi transfer to Fulham as they are demanding £10 million for the player. The Blues are unwilling to lower their asking price and this has seen the deal go cold for now.

The 22-year-old is already attracting interest from several European clubs, with the likes of Lazio keen on signing him. The 22-year-old intends to join the Cottagers and it remains to be seen whether the Blues are willing to see him leave on the cheap.

The forward, who spent last season on loan at Bayern Leverkusen, failed to convince the German club to keep him. He eventually returned to Chelsea and is currently training with the U21 squad. Having been left out of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad that travelled to the USA for preseason, Hudson-Odoi’s future at the club appears bleak.

The Blues have shown no sign of keeping him and are ready to offload him for maximum profit. With his contract set to expire next summer, it makes sense that we sell him this time around to avoid letting him walk out on a free.

The 22-year-old only wants to join Premier League side Fulham despite interest from Serie A club Lazio. The latter can offer him UEFA Champions League football and also reunite the player with former Blues boss Maurizio Sarri.

Personal terms have also been agreed between Hudson-Odoi and Fulham. Now it remains to be seen if the Craven Cottagers will pay his asking price, which could result in both clubs reaching an agreement. It could prove to be a case of who blinks first.

Staying at Stamford Bridge is unlikely to give Hudson-Odoi the chance to progress his career. Mykhaylo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling, among others, already occupy his position; thus, the Englishman might be the left wing’s third-choice attacker at best.

For the player who struggled at Leverkusen, £10 million is a respectable sum, and his eagerness to sign with Fulham should prompt them to act more quickly for the 22-year-old. Let’s hope they close the transaction soon because he will be reunited with William, the former Chelsea player who performed admirably for the club last season.
