Luis Enrique has travelled to London to discuss managing Chelsea

Luis Enrique has travelled to London to discuss taking over the vacant managerial seat at Chelsea, as the Blues try to replace Graham Potter. The former Spanish international boss is travelling with his former Barcelona teammate, De La Pena, who is now an agent.

Since departing Barcelona (h/t Independent), where he won a treble in the 2014–15 season, the 52-year-old has not coached a club. He enjoyed some modest success with the national team but failed to impress in the World Cup in Qatar.

Enrique, who had previously guided Spain to the Euro 2020 semi-final and National League final, recently departed his position as manager of the national team after they were eliminated by Morocco in the last 16 in Qatar. Having enjoyed a sabbatical, he appears ready to resume managerial duties now.

There are currently ongoing negotiations to replace Graham Potter, and one of the contenders is Julian Nagelsmann. Enrique looks to be getting closer to being named the Blues’ new head coach, though.

The former manager of Spain has had success as a manager, but only at Barcelona, where he coached players like Luis Suarez, Neymar, and Lionel Messi. He is thought to have persuaded the Chelsea board of his distinct vision for the group, where he would put into practice his high-intensity, high-pressing style.

Luis Enrique won the treble with Barcelona.

Given the talented squad the Blues have, Enrique, one of the best managers, can transform the trajectory of the club. He has worked with big teams and has also coached personalities.

If he is hired as Chelsea’s manager, he will implement his preferred style of play, which includes aggressive pressing, vertical and transitional play, quick wide-forward attacks, and a concentration on numerical dominance.

More Chelsea News:

Young players will be at his disposal, and if they rapidly adapt to his ideas, he can also achieve swift results. So, he will be a fantastic hire as a coach, but perhaps this time Todd Boehly will have to give him his full support to back his ambitions.
