Frank Lampard defends Chelsea boo boys following Brentford loss
Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard agreed that the fans had the right to jeer players following yet another loss, this time against Brentford.
In the five games since being named interim manager, Lampard has failed to win any of them, leaving Chelsea mired in the bottom half of the standings. Losing five games in a row is never a good look, especially for the club legend.
The fans lost their patience after the final whistle blew and began booing the players in the 2-0 loss to Brentford. The boss began to ring out early on after Cesar Azpilicueta’s own goal gave the Bees the lead.
Chelsea had many chances to level the score but squandered them. Brentford took advantage of their missed opportunities when Bryan Mbeumo increased their lead in the 78th minute to put an end to the contest.
The former Blues player said that after their team’s fifth straight loss, (h/t Express) the fans had every legitimate reason to protest.
“Absolutely, they [the fans] worry because they’re used to 20 years of success, and you want it more. I’ve no problem with the fans booing; I’m not sitting here to go against the fans and say, Don’t boo the players.”
We cannot hold the supporters responsible for this as they are frustrated and eager for the season to end now. Lampard is partly to blame for the fact that we lacked inspiration and tactical flexibility throughout the game.
He needs to stop using conservative methods. There were other players that ought to have been playing in this match, but Lampard chose not to field any experienced attackers other than Sterling.

The lack of cohesion all over the field cannot be dismissed.. Fans are sick of seeing us lose every game, and right now it looks like a victory would have the same feel as winning silverware.
