Chelsea are set to offer a new contract with improved terms to Armando Broja

According to the Athletic (h/t Football.London), Chelsea are set to offer new contract with improved terms to young striker Armando Broja. It is believed that the talks are already in progress between both parties.

The 20-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge throughout this summer transfer window, but the club have made it clear that his future lies here. He already has a contract with the Blues up until the summer of 2026.

Broja was on loan at Southampton last season and had a very good time at the St. Mary’s Stadium. Nine goals and one assist in 38 games in all competitions doesn’t exactly do justice to how well he played under Ralph Hasenhuttl. His link-up play, running the channels, being physically strong and being a menace from set-pieces were some of the key facets.

Armando Broja to get new contract at Chelsea

Broja is valued around £57m by Chelsea if any club wants to sign him on a permanent contract. Blues manager Thomas Tuchel had a close look at the 20-year-old throughout the pre-season amid the absence of an out-and-out-striker in the squad.

Currently, the club does not have a striker in their squad apart from Broja. The ones who were here last season are gone (Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner). Also, when asked about Broja’s future at Stamford Bridge last month, Tuchel was adamant that he does not expect the youngster to leave the club this summer.

Chelsea began their Premier League campaign with a win and a draw. In both matches, they were the ones dominating possession and creating more chances than the opposition. But, lacking a finisher in the box did hurt them.

Raheem Sterling and/or Kai Havertz are doing a job of the false nine, but they are not going to give 20 goals per season to turn domination into goals and wins.

So, it makes sense that the club secures the future of Broja with improved contract terms. The 20-year-old is a good enough player to lead the line as and when required. Maybe, Tuchel is slowly integrating him into the starting line-up.
