Chelea keeping a keen eye on Colombian international Luis Diaz who is a man in demand

According to Nico Schira (h/t ESPN), Porto winger Luis Diaz has been linked to Chelsea amidst interest from other clubs across Europe. The winger exploded onto the scene after his impressive Copa America 2021 campaign for Colombia.

Diaz has a tally of seven goals and an assist in 12 matches across all competitions in Portugal. He is on course to beat his goal contribution tally from last season following an excellent set of run-outs this season.

The forward truly excelled at the international level after his sensational output at the Copa America for Colombia. He scored four goals for his country as he became the top scorer alongside Lionel Messi in the competition. Not a mean feat given the talent on display.

The 24-year-old led his nation to a third-place finish after scoring two goals against Peru in the third-placed playoff. Naturally, clubs started being interested in the forward and he is now one of the most sought after talents on the continent.

It has been suggested that European giants like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also keeping tabs on the player alongside The Blues. The Saudi-backed Newcastle United are also said to be one of the interested parties.

Super-agent Pini Zahavi is claimed to be helping the South American to find a suitor in his next step for glory. However, the Portuguese club isn’t open to negotiating as they want the full €80 million in his release clause.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are packed in the forward line but Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner and Christian Pulisic are out due to injuries at the moment. However, none of them has suffered a long term injury for Chelsea to be worried about. So, it remains to be seen how the situation develops between Diaz and Tuchel’s side.
