Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel keen to dethrone Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool

According to The Sun, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is keen to usurp Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool as he looks to get the Blues back to winning ways.

Klopp is one of the best managers in world football and has admittedly taken Liverpool to heights few thought were possible when he took over. While his reputation is well earned, Tuchel does not appear to be daunted.

Both managers would appear to have more in common than at first sight. Apart from them both being Germans, both of them managed at Mainz before going onto the big leagues with Borussia Dortmund. While Klopp does enjoy a better standing at both clubs. Tuchel has shown he is a master tactician.

 “We have a certain history.”

“Let’s try to make things a bit more complicated for him.”

Tuchel is keen to make life difficult for the Liverpool manager. Having converted Liverpool into one of the finest teams in world football, the German has built up a solid reputation.

Tuchel is now keen to dent it and the best way to do is show him up on the field.

“We start right now, to close the gap and to take away a bit of his points and his reputation.”

Thomas Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard

Tuchel and Klopp have faced off against each other a few times now. The Liverpool manager holds the upper hand having won nine of their 14 encounters. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Two of their high profile encounters came at Anfield in recent years. Tuchel was at the end of stoppage time heartbreaks as Liverpool prevailed over both Dortmund and PSG in added time. With us still to travel to Anfield this season, Tuchel will hopefully set that record straight.

Tuchel will be better off focusing on getting Chelsea up to speed than let any personal animosities get in the way. Frank Lampard too had a go at Klopp last season, only to see his side fail to replicate that fight on the pitch. Hopefully, Tuchel will fare better.
