Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri refuses to confirm the futures of two stars

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has hinted that Danny Drinkwater and Victor Moses could be sold by the club.

Drinkwater has struggled for game time since moving from Leicester City at the start of last season. Moses has made six appearances for Chelsea so far but has only started one League Cup game for the Blues.

The Italian manager was asked if the pair had a future at the club and was quoted by the Metro as saying:

“I don’t know.

“They have to improve, but the characteristics are a little bit different.”

The manager explained what problems he faces with the pair, and claimed it is an issue with their positions in the team.

“The situation is that Drinkwater for me is not suitable for a midfield with two midfielders.

“I told him two months ago what I think.

“And Moses is more suitable for playing like a wing-back than like a winger or a full-back.”

Sarri plays with three midfielders in the team with Jorginho and N’Golo Kante more or less first-teamers. We have a number of options in midfield with Ross Barkley, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all doing well this season.

We don’t play with wing-backs like we did under Antonio Conte, and it does make sense to sell the pair and make some money.

The Blues have done well this season, and are unbeaten in all competitions prior to their clash against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.
