Antonio Conte is set to join Chelsea at the beginning of the next season after his Italy duty gets over and has planned a massive swoop for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain as per Daily Star.
The 28 year old Argentine joined from Real Madrid in 2013 and has scored 32 goals this season, making him the top scorer in Serie A and the club in the second position on the table. Italian media has reported that Chelsea’s £48 million bid for the player has been rejected by Napoli who do not want to let go of their star striker for anything below the release clause of £80 million.
Recently Higuain has refused to renew his contract at Napoli hinting he would prefer a move and the club may be forced to sell him in the summer if a suitable offer comes by. Any transfer at the amount equal to his release clause will make him second most expensive transfer in the football history only behind Gareth Bale.
