His agent said “We are open to talks with Chelsea, at any time, any place. He likes the English Premier league a lot and Chelsea are a good club for Hulk”
He has been a hit for Porto, scoring 52 times in just 96n games for the club, but has yet to score in 9 appearances for his country.
The 25 year old can also act as a right-winger, which would suit the London club perfectly, as they have just announced they will be releasing Salomon Kalou, so would fit in perfectly with their plans.
However, the asking price might be a stumbling block, with Porto reportedly wanting around £10m more than the £30m that Chelsea wish to pay for him.
Roman Abramovich would have done himself no favours, by announcing earlier this summer that his new manager would have a war chest of money to spend on new signings, forcing clubs around to world to pump up their asking fees should clubs come calling.
However, if the Russian billionaire thinks that Hulk is the perfect replacement for the outgoing Didier Drogba, then he may well break the bank to sign him.
Chelsea have been linked with a host of strikers, and don’t expect the rumours to stop. The question is, will Torres be handed the role to fire Chelsea to domestic glory, or will Abramovich sign one, or possibly even two forwards this Summer.
