‘’Never in doubt”- Neville blasts Chelsea defender for key mistake vs Manchester City

Gary Neville calls out Chelsea star Wesley Fofana for game-changing mistake vs Manchester City

Gary Neville slammed Chelsea star Wesley Fofana for his weak pass, resulting in Manchester City’s game-winning over the Blues on Sunday night.

Pep Guardiola used his reserves against the Blues, who failed to take advantage of it. Chelsea had chances but poor execution saw them waste them, handing City another three points.

The decisive moment came early in the first half when Fofana’s weak pass gifted the ball to Kalvin Phillips, who found Cole Palmer and Palmer spotted Julian Alvarez with a crisp pass. The Argentine made no mistake in putting the ball beyond Kepa Arrizabalaga, giving the home side the lead.

Sky Sports pundit and former Manchester United player, Gary Neville was unimpressed with Wesley Fofana.

The goal was enough to drive City to victory, and they concluded the season with their third Premier League title in a row. Chelsea could only look on frustrated, knowing there is much work to do in the summer.

Speaking on Sky Sports (h/t Metro), Neville was upset with Fofana and his pass and claimed it more or less gave wind to City’s strong start on the night.

‘‘Really poor giveaway from Fofana. It is never in doubt from Palmer; it is so accurate and precise with his pass, brilliant when Alvarez is one-on-one with the goalkeeper.”

‘’City may have made more changes, but they have started much better than Chelsea.’’

Gary Neville criticised Wesley Fofana for his poor performance against Manchester City.

Given that there was no pressure on him, it appeared that Fofana made that pass in a hurry when he might have been better off taking his time. That was bad for the 22-year-old, and it’s not acceptable from an experienced defender like Fofana. However, he is still learning and will hopefully avoid making similar mistakes against top sides.

The French international made reparations and played confidently, but we may have won the game if the attackers hadn’t wasted those opportunities.

However, Chelsea put in a good performance, and we can’t completely criticise the players because we’ve been tactically routed by opponents in all games. After all, Frank Lampard for all his talk, hasn’t really done much from the sidelines.
