Serie A goal machine dreaming of Chelsea transfer; club can make it happen if they pay nine-figure release clause

Chelse handed big boost in pursuit of Victor Osimhen

Chelsea have been provided an impetus in Victor Osimhen’s pursuit as the centre-forward dreams of joining the Blues in the summer transfer window. However, his mammoth clause could be a big issue for the Blues, who also hope to comply with the Premier League FFP next season.

According to the Italian publication Gazzetta, the West Londoners could still land their dream striker next season if they manage to pay Napoli a nine-figure release clause. The Blues want to land a reliable centre-forward next season, but their main issues remain his matching Osimhen release clause.

This season, the Nigerian striker has had a decent spell, scoring only 15 goals in 24 Serie A games. The striker failed to emulate his last-season goal-scoring form, while Napoli themselves struggled to defend the title this campaign.

Osimhen will be under a lot of pressure given his price tag and the expectation from the fans that he perform in every game if we are able to sign him after shelling out that much for the release clause. One prominent example of this is Moises Caicedo, who has improved his performance significantly yet is still referred to as a flop by many.

But coming to Chelsea will have its benefits because he will receive service from the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Cole Palmer, and Christopher Nkunku. Given that Nicolas Jackson has produced 14 goals in the league while Osimhen is more clinical than him, we can expect him to score more goals than him.

Osimhen’s addition brings a greater amount of finishing touch to the box, which the Blues have lacked for many years. The last time we had players who were lethal in front of the goal were Diego Costa, Fernando Torres, and Didier Drogba.
