Chelsea fans had a special chant for Mason Mount after Cole Palmer’s goal vs Manchester United
At the point where it was 2-0 to Chelsea in the eventual 4-2 win for the Blues at Stamford Bridge over Manchester United, the fans in the stadium had a “special” chant for Cobham Graduate and one-time fan-favourite Mason Mount, who moved to Erik ten Hag’s side in the future amid a phase of turbulence at Chelsea.
A goal from Conor Gallagher and a hat-trick from Cole Palmer eventually sealed the result in Chelsea’s favour, after the Blues went down 3-2 with Alejandro Garnacho scoring a brace and conceding a goal from Bruno Fernandes. However, in those fifteen minutes between Cole’s first goal and United’s opener, Chelsea were breezing past visitors, leading the Stamford Bridge faithful to dedicate a chant to Mount, who was one of our own not very long ago. The momentary tribute, for lack of a better word, to Mount highlighted the lingering sentiment among the fans. Mount, once hailed as one of their own, now found himself on the opposing side, a stark reminder of the nature of football allegiances. What’s worse is he saw Chelsea’s comeback on the field after coming on in the 86th minute.
