Blues legend explodes into rant against Chelsea board after dropped points vs 10-man Burnley

Frank Leboeuf blasts the Chelsea board for destroying the club

Former Chelsea star Frank Leboeuf has accused the Chelsea board of destroying the club following the disappointing 2-2 draw with relegation-threatening 10-man Burnley at Stamford Bridge.

The visitors battled back from behind twice to secure a point. After the game, the former Blues star expressed dissatisfaction with the match and criticized the club’s board, who have spent £1b in the last four transfer windows, but the results have been unpleasant.

The Blues board has made it clear that their primary objective has been on acquiring young players and developing the team around them to forge an identity. When you have players who lack meaningful experience, there will be inconsistent performance and frequent basic mistakes, which will slow down the development process.

However, this hasn’t gone well with former Blues player Leboeuf, who couldn’t contain his anger and blasted the club’s board in an interview with ESPN, where he said:

‘’I’m sorry, the people on the board destroyed that club.” That’s what you have to face, and how are you going to rebuild that?

“I don’t know; it’s going to take a long time, but you have to change your way of thinking about that. Stop the training business; buy some experienced players in the summer market; otherwise, you’re going to face the same problems next season.”

Leboeuf’s wrath is understandable because even fans have expressed dissatisfaction with the board’s rebuilding of the squad. However, we can’t fully state that the new board has wrecked the club due to their distinct strategy to transfer and forge a new identity for the team.

Leboeuf’s other criticism of bringing in only young players, however, makes sense given that developing a young team involves numerous factors, and bringing in only them will simply impede growth. The process will go more quickly if they have an experienced player by their side. Our board must also adjust as the squad grows, and even Mauricio Pochettino has pushed the team to add experienced players.
