Journo: Chelsea have ‘at least 5 names’ ready as Ruben Amorim alternatives to replace Pochettino who has no ‘connection’ with fans

Dean Jones reveals Chelsea have identified five managers who can replace Mauricio Pochettino at the club

Chelsea has already begun compiling a list of potential managers to take over for Mauricio Pochettino should the Argentine leave in the middle of the current campaign or before the new one begins, given the Argentine’s mediocre performance.

The Blues are languishing in 11th place, and there hasn’t been progress under Pochettino, who is now facing major problems to change the course of the club. Journalist Dean Jones reveals that the club has identified five major managers who will succeed the Argentine at the club.

Expectations were high from Pochettino, as the board least expected the former Tottenham Hotspur head coach to lead the club to European qualification next season, but given the club’s current performance, it now looks doubtful.

Jones has further clarified the situation, and among those given managers, Sporting CP head coach Ruben Amorim is leading the race to become the Blues’ gaffer next season. In conversation with GiveMeSport, he provided some more insight and said:

‘’Amorim is consistently cited as the man they would be most interested in if they needed a replacement, but that one is not straightforward. If it can’t happen, I think Chelsea already has a list of at least five other names in mind.’’

Right now, we will keep hearing this manager is linked with a Chelsea job if the performance under Pochettino continues to dwindle and fall further into the table. But previously, the club has backed the Argentine manager to continue until the end of the season, and the 52-year-old deserves it.

It is usually a good idea to get a manager’s input before signing any player so that you know exactly the kind of team that will fit into their system. Give him players who will require time, and prepare for a season in which he will need to transform the team into a successful one.

This is true for all managers. Should we choose to name a manager in the middle of the season, he will likewise find it difficult to bring the best out of this team. In contemporary football, managers choose players who will enable them to rapidly assemble a squad that will deliver consistent results.
