Why Enzo Fernandez will not play in upcoming Chelsea vs Leicester City clash

Enzo Fernandez will miss Chelsea vs Leicester City in FA Cup quarter-final due to suspension

According to Standard Sport, Chelsea will be without one of their key signings, Enzo Fernandez, for the upcoming FA Cup quarter-final against Leicester City. The Argentine midfielder received his second yellow card during the 3-2 victory over Leeds United.

Despite the narrow win against Leeds, Chelsea are determined to keep their hopes alive in the domestic cup competition following their recent heartbreaking loss to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final (1-0).

However, the West London side faced an early setback as Moises Caicedo was dispossessed, resulting in Leeds scoring within the first eight minutes of the match.

Chelsea responded swiftly to Leeds’ early goal with a strike from Nicolas Jackson. Mykhaylo Mudryk then gave Chelsea the lead, only for Mateo Joseph to level the score after the interval. With both teams pressing for a winner, substitute Conor Gallagher, who missed a 1v1 chance against Liverpool, scored the decisive goal in the 90th minute, securing Chelsea’s advancement.

Despite playing over 120 minutes, the players showed resilience after the disappointment of the Carabao Cup final loss to Liverpool. Their victory against Leeds keeps their hopes of winning a domestic cup this season alive.
