Chelsea paying attention to Barcelona starlet who could get new contract after stellar displays

Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi is a rising star with rising Chelsea interest

Chelsea target Pau Cubarsi has found himself being the talk of the town following Barcelona’s win over Napoli in the Champions League this midweek. His impressive displays mean European clubs are taking notice.

While the Catalonian fans know that Pau Cubarsi is special, he put the imagination into the paper as he managed to withhold the Napoli threat. He could be added to the list of Fermin Lopez and Lamine Yamal, with the trio having the capacity to have a long career with Barcelona.

As Victor Osehmien found out, Pau Cubarsi possesses a lack of fearlessness complemented by aerial ability, passing, calmness with the ball at his feet, his understanding of space, and his intent to win every ball.

However, according to a report by Sport, Cubarsi has a cheap release clause worth €10m-€15m which has fueled Premier League trio Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United to pursue an interest in the 17-year-old.

All of the three would love to have a talent like Pau Cubarsi on their side, however, the La Masia graduate prefers to stay at Barcelona – who are working behind the scenes to raise his release clause and prevent any cheap buyout.

Manchester City also contracted the player and his representatives over a potential deal to bring him to Etihad Stadium.

This suits quite nicely for Chelsea as this ticks all the boxes that the Blues have been looking at with transfers lately. He is young, has a very high ceiling, and is available for a cheap investment.

While it will be difficult to convince Pau Cubarsi to give up on his Barcelona dreams, it will be a bargain of a transfer if Todd Boehly manages to do that.
