Manchester City appear to take dig at Chelsea star with tweet during EFL Cup ceremony

Manchester City mock Cole Palmer with a tweet after Chelsea lose to Liverpool

Chelsea experienced their first disappointment of the season in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool, succumbing to a 1-0 defeat to the Reds. In a classic football scenario, the crushing blow arrived in the dying moments of the game, just as it seemed destined for penalties.

The decisive moment came with a Virgil van Dijk header, denying Chelsea the chance to extend the match and secure their tenth domestic cup title under Jurgen Klopp’s management.

Despite having numerous opportunities to seal the victory, Chelsea failed to capitalize on their chances, a recurring theme that ultimately proved costly in extra time.

Right after the final whistle, (h/t Metro), Manchester City instantly posted a photo of Phil Foden with a freezing emoji, and it appeared to be directed towards Cole Palmer. The former Manchester City star was given the name ‘Cold Palmer’  at Etihad because of his composure and coolness under pressure.

Palmer’s celebrations are also related to his being cold despite massive pressure, during his celebrations the forward puts his hands under his armpits and pretends to shiver. It might be a stretch but there is enough for the Chelsea faithful to feel aggravated.

A very classless act from the city.

Taunting former players, especially those who have departed in search of more playing time, is unsportsmanlike behaviour. Palmer remains a talented player who will undoubtedly excel at Chelsea despite the disappointment of losing the final against Liverpool. Ridiculing him serves no purpose and detracts from the integrity of the game.

Cole Palmer’s former club Manchester City mocked the forward with a tweet.

They are trolling their own academy players, which tells a lot about a club’s standards. Comes across as exceptionally petty.

Despite his youth, he has already demonstrated his significance on the pitch. The setback against Liverpool could serve as motivation for both Palmer and the team to bounce back stronger and aim for greater achievements in the future.
