Chelsea now await Swansea City man after Sam Jewell capture

Chelsea working with Swansea to appoint Josh Marsh as loan manager

Chelsea will have a new member on their board after they successfully poached Sam Jewell from Brighton & Hove Albion, who will work with the recruitment team. According to the Guardian, The Blues will now work on bringing Josh Marsh on as their new loan manager from Swansea City. Chelsea’s ambitions have revolved around bringing in young players.

This season, the majority of the players have been loaned to top European teams, but a few of them were called back due to a lack of game time. Andrey Santos, Bashir Humphreys and David Datro Fofana.

However, Fofana was loaned to Burnley, while Santos joined Strasbourg. But the Blues believe Marsh’s return will bring more smoothness to loaning young players.

But who is Josh Marsh?

Marsh’s profile as head of recruitment has been exciting, as he has worked in scouting roles at Huddersfield Town, Southampton and Wolves. Meanwhile, his brother ED Marsh has been at Chelsea, and now that Josh is joining the club, it will be great for both brothers to work together.

Marsh started his professional career at Huddersfield in June 2022. He worked with Watson but later left and tried his hands at big clubs. He was appointed in charge of all football departments at Swansea, including player scouting.

When Watson arrived at Swansea, Marsh took charge of all of Swansea’s football operations, with what the club described as a “particular focus” on player recruitment. The appointment will help the club’s young players find suitable clubs for loan, as the club has plenty of youngsters who would want to play where they can get reasonable game time for their development.

Given that we have now poached Jewell, Marsh joining the club board is a matter of time, and soon we can start working on signing more great young players, but hopefully this time the club will also place an emphasis on signing experienced players.
