Chelsea duo including Robert Sanchez tipped to make return vs Liverpool in EFL Cup final

Chelsea stars Carney Chukwuemeka and Robert Sanchez could be in contention to face Liverpool in Carabao Cup final

According to Evening Standard, Chelsea will welcome two-star players from injury for their Carabao Cup final game against Liverpool in Wembley. Carney Chukwuemeka and Robert Sanchez have been tipped to make a return for the final.

Chukwuemeka suffered an ankle injury during training three days before the trip to City. The midfielder also missed a match against Aston Villa, but the report reveals the injury isn’t serious, as the youngster could return for the Carabao Cup final.

Chukwuemeka hasn’t featured enough this season after the player sustained a knee injury at the start of this campaign and was sidelined for a long period of time.

Despite returning from a knee injury, the 20-year-old didn’t play enough games, with plenty of injury relapses. Once again, he picked up a twisted ankle, but it is not serious, and we can expect him to participate against Liverpool.

The Blues have been handed another injury boost, as Robert Sanchez could be in the lineup to face the Reds. The former Brighton & Hove Albion player has finally recovered from the knee injury they suffered in a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.

Before the Liverpool game, the goalie will be scanned, and if things are good, Sanchez could be ready to face the Reds. However, Mauricio Pochettino will hopefully take precautions and start Dorde Petrovic, while the former Villains’ midfielder might be doubtful to get some minutes on the pitch.

Pochettino will opt for his regular midfield trio of Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Conor Gallagher, while we can expect Cesare Casadei to make a short cameo. It will be up to the Argentine manager if he feels Chukwuemeka should get some minutes on the pitch.

Sanchez might be uncertain about starting the game given it’s a final, and he is not fit to play the full 90 minutes. So, the Serbian will be manning the sticks. To be fair to him, he has really been good in the Spaniard’s absence and should continue his good form against the Reds.
