Jurgen Klopp says he knows what to expect from Chelsea in Carabao Cup final
The Carabao Cup final stage is set between Chelsea and Liverpool after the Reds drew with Fulham 1-1 but won the match 2-1 on aggregate following their first-leg 1-0 win.
This will be a repeat of the 2021-22 Carabao Cup final, when both sides met in the final during Thomas Tuchel’s tenure and Liverpool prevailed on penalties 11–10, one of the longest penalty shootouts in the competition.
We are going to be the underdogs coming into the final game since Jurgen Klopp’s team has been playing staggering football this season and is currently top of the Premier League. Although there won’t be as much pressure, we nonetheless have to execute well if we want to win Mauricio Pochettino’s first trophy.
It will be an intense game, and we are also facing Liverpool in the Premier League on January 30th, which will be a big test for us and also prepare us to confront them again in the EFL Cup.
Following the 1-1 draw with Fulham, the Liverpool boss spoke to the media and was questioned about facing us again in the Carabao Cup, (h/t BBC), he said:
“It is fantastic. We had the experience before; we know what to expect. Again, Chelsea, wow, what a story that is.”
Chelsea and Liverpool games have always been entertaining, but our last five Premier League games have always ended in draws, and both sides have gone toe-to-toe with each other. But, we have lost the last two domestic tournaments due to penalties; hopefully, this time, we’ll strive for glory.
They are presently competing for the title this season against teams like Manchester City and Arsenal and are performing far better than they did in the previous one. Playing for Klopp’s team is always exciting because they always back themselves in these competitions.
