Chelsea stars give extended leave after narrow Fulham win

Mauricio Pochettino hands Chelsea players three days off following 1-0 win over Fulham

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea staff and players have been given three days off following a 1-0 win over Fulham, which marked their fourth straight win at home for the first time since 2020.

The win also saw them climb to ninth place in the Premier League after being stuck in 10th place for the first half of the season. The players have received deserving three-day holidays, as they needed fresh air after a hectic first half of the campaign.

Chelsea’s next game is the 23rd January second leg against Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup after they suffered a 1-0 loss in the first leg. Pochettino will be hoping that three days off will help the players return to training fresh after a nervy win against the Cottagers.

However, the performance wasn’t up to par, but a win was the most important. The Blues could have scored three goals, but the inexperience of the squad in front of the goal is sometimes clearly evident.

Meanwhile, the Argentine manager will be seeing his family, who reside in Spain, though given the January transfer window, the 51-year-old will certainly be involved in transfers. Chelsea may look to sign some players, but mainly they will have to offload a few fringe players to make room for more acquisitions as they want to avoid bloating their squad like last season.

Mauricio Pochettino has given players three days off.

The players have earned the three days off after putting up great performances throughout the first half of the season. This holiday will also help them return fit and healthy and more rejuvenated for the training. It’s obvious they are exhausted and need much rest given our next match is on the 23rd and we have enough time for that.

In our next game, we will have to be at our best and fit, as we will be looking to overturn the deficit against Middlesbrough. Hopefully, we won’t make the same mistake we did in the first leg and put up a convincing performance and secure a place in the final of the Carabao Cup.
