“I’m happy, busy”- Club icon breaks silence after being let go by Chelsea without explanation this summer

Pat Nevin was dismissed from his job of writing columns and providing co-commentary for Chelsea

Pat Nevin has finally opened up about his sacking by Chelsea and claimed he has no hard feelings after his dismissal from the club, where he wrote plenty of columns and provided co-commentaries for Chelsea during his tenure at the club.

The Blues decided from the start of this season that Nevin was no longer required to write columns for the programme and the club’s website or provide co-commentaries for the club’s in-house feed.

Nevin, a former Chelsea player, made 242 appearances between 1983 and 1988 and later became a writer at Chelsea, publishing around 750 articles over 13 years.

But his sacking by Chelsea has come without any explanation, and he was informed he had been dumped by the club from their co-commentary and published on Chelsea’s website. However, Nevin finally spoke about his abrupt dismissal by the club and took to X, (h/t Mirror), where he tweeted regarding his sacking:

“I have such kind sentiments about my CFC departure. Thank you all. So kind of everyone, but honestly, don’t stress—others are losing their jobs, and now in dire financial circumstances, they are more worthy of consideration. I’m happy and busy (promoting my recent book for Christmas and BBC work).

Mauricio Pochettino will be without Jesus Perez for Chelsea vs Blackburn Rovers.
Nevin is thankful for the opportunity to work with Chelsea.

Numerous people have been fired under Todd Boehly, regardless of the department. We have witnessed it all thus far, from managers to ground staff to journalists, and this indicates that he wishes to appoint his own, reliable individuals. Former footballer Nevin carried on his career at Chelsea by turning to journalism and producing several fascinating articles throughout the years.
