“It would be a dream to see them play professionally at Chelsea”- Thiago Silva on his two sons

Thiago Silva dreams of seeing his kids playing for Chelsea

Thiago Silva says it’s his dream to see his kids represent Chelsea in the future after the defender enrolled his kids in the Blues youth academy.

Silva, who became the oldest Chelsea player after featuring against Newcastle United, has remained the Blues preferred choice under Mauricio Pochettino.

Silva joined the Blues in 2020 at the age of 35, which raised certain questions, knowing he was in his late 30s. But it took him no time to win fans’ hearts at the club and win the Champions League the following season.

He has been an evergreen for Chelsea and has remained every manager’s first choice at the back. However, his time at the club is nearing an end, given that he is now 39 and next year he will be 40.

He has one year left on his contract, and it remains to be seen if he will continue for another season. However, the Brazilian centre-back has found his admiration for the club and hopes to see his kids play for Chelsea once he retires. Speaking to the Chelsea website, he commented:

‘’I have to say that at every club I’ve been at, I’ve felt a lot of love from the clubs themselves and the fans, but here it feels a little bit different because of the fact that my kids are playing on the team too. For me, it would be a dream to see them play professionally at Chelsea. I love watching them, ultimately, and I try to help them as much as I can.”

Naturally, all fathers want their sons to join the club that they adore the most and follow in their footsteps. Silva has quickly become a legend here, and because he has been our greatest player since joining, it will be painful to see him go.

Though his kids still have a long way to go, Silva will be hoping that his children, who are now playing for Chelsea’s youth programme, will also make a lasting impression just like him at the club.
