Chelsea star ‘already being linked’ with Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern after joining this summer, says Romano

Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea won’t sell Axel Disasi amid Bayern Munich links

Fabrizio Romano says Axel Disasi is already linked with a move to Bayern Munich, but it’s unlikely he will leave the club after Chelsea bought him last summer. He made his debut in the season’s opening game against Liverpool and scored his debut goal as well.

The Frenchman was signed as a replacement for Wesely Fofana, who suffered an ACL injury during training. The 24-year-old featured in the majority of the game, but Chelsea’s poor form has seen the centre-back come under criticism.

It was an abrupt signing by Chelsea, and it’s no brainer that he will need some time to settle, but so far the centre-back has been rock solid and has partnered with Thiago Silva and Benoit Badiashile at the back.

But a sporadic performance in recent defeats has seen the the Frenchman linked with a move away, and it is understood that Bayern Munich are interested in signing him. Given that he is still finding his feet at Stamford Bridge, parting ways with Disasi would be unfathomable.

However, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has so far dismissed the rumours in his Daily Briefing on CaughtOffSide column, where he said:

“I have to say I’m not aware of anything changing with Axel Disasi’s situation, despite rumours that he could already be a candidate to leave the club in January.

“Disasi only joined in the summer but is already being linked with Bayern Munich, though I still think the likely defender to leave Chelsea is Trevoh Chalobah for the January window. Chelsea are looking at centre-backs, but I’d not link that to Disasi.”

Why Chelsea would sell him when they require more centre-backs is completely nonsensical. Though there have been a few games when he has performed poorly, it should be noted that he was only signed for this season and comes from a different league. He has, however, been brilliant for us and has appeared in every game. Should he maintain his remarkable play, he might take Thiago Silva’s spot in the upcoming season.

Such a physical centre-back is what we need at the back. Disasi can effectively defend against an aggressive side because of his height and physical strength. However, we should anticipate a rotation at the back of the defence after Fofana returns.
