Transfer News: AC Milan eyeing a move for 22-year-old Chelsea star

AC Milan express interest in signing Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile

As per Italian newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport, AC Milan have added Chelsea centre-back Benoit Badiashile for a potential January transfer move as the club aims to reach the last 16 in the Champions League.

Injuries to Marco Pellegrino and Pierre Kalulu have forced Milan to look for defenders in the transfer window, and the Serie A club has identified Chelsea’s star as an ideal replacement.

Chelsea have made it obvious that they regard the defender as one of the team’s key players and under Mauricio Pochettino, the 22-year-old who recently returned from an injury will play a significant part.

Since Wesley Fofana is already out with an injury, Levi Colwill’s shoulder ailment could prevent Chelsea from accepting any approach for Badiashile.

The Blues currently have only Thiago Silva and Axel Disasi as fit options to play the matches, so they shouldn’t be thinking about any transfers for the 22-year-old.

Silva’s future also looks uncertain next season, given the centre-back could decide to move to his Brazilian club Fluminense. So Chelsea have to be careful before making decisions regarding the future of any defenders.

The French centre-back joined the club last season and showed promising performances but suffered a long-term injury that kept him out for a long period of time.

Badiashile is important for us, and he has demonstrated it. We have to be careful if we sell any defenders. If Silva leaves next season, we will be left with only Fofana, Colwill, Disasi, and Badiashile.
