“My centre-back needs to stop him.” Mauricio Pochettino reveals how he will stop Tottenham star against Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino reveals his plans to stop Tottenham ace Heung Min-Son against Chelsea

Since the departure of Harry Kane, Heung Min-Son has taken on Tottenham Hotspur goalscoring responsibilities and been phenomenal in front of the net, scoring eight goals in 10 games.

The South Korean forward has been operating as a makeshift centre-forward for Spurs this season, with Richarlison and Son switching their positions during attacks. Chelsea will be wary of Son’s threat in front of the net, and the Argentine manager will certainly have a plan to prevent the forward from taking any opportunity.

Pochettino knows Son’s talent, having worked with him at Spurs and helped him become a top forward in Europe. However, when Chelsea and Tottenham play each other on Monday, the two will have distinct objectives—to win three points.

The Argentine manager also revealed that he will have a plan to stop the in-form Tottenham forward, and speaking at the press conference, (h/t Football.London) he revealed:

“I’m not going to play centre-back. My centre-back needs to stop him. We know him, and he’s a fantastic player—one of the best players in the Premier League. I hope it’s not going to be a good night for him.”

Son has performed splendidly. When Kane left for Bayern Munich, fans pondered who would score goals regularly. The South Korean forward stepped up and has been productive in front of the goal. So Chelsea’s centre-back will need to be ready to forestall the 31-year-old from scoring against us.

Having worked with Son at Spurs, Pochettino is acutely conscious of his brilliance. He will undoubtedly have a plan to stop him, but it is unclear how he will fortify the defence on Monday when we visit Spurs. According to what the Argentine said, Son won’t have a pleasant night against us. Hopefully, he keeps his word.
