“It’s my first hat-trick” – Nicolas Jackson opens up about his Chelsea struggles following Tottenham Hotspur win

Nicolas Jackson produced a hat-trick in Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspurs

Nicolas Jackson was pleased with his performance after the Senegalese forward scored his first hat-trick for Chelsea in a 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

The 22-year-old scored three goals in the space of 20 minutes to steer the Mauricio Pochettino side to a dominant win over their North London rivals. It was a chaotic night for both sides, which saw two red cards and five goals disallowed.

Jackson not only scored a hat trick but also established a record, becoming the first player since Hasselbaink to net a treble against Spurs. However, the former Villarreal forward could have had more goals to his name after he missed a few chances and one goal was ruled offside.

Despite the win, the centre-forward believes he needs to work harder and help Chelsea achieve success following their poor start to the new season. Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Daily Mail) after the game, the 22-year-old said:

”I am very happy, and it has been a difficult time for everybody on the team. We are coming back really slowly and are happy to have scored three goals. It’s my first hat-trick, so I am happy to have done it with the biggest club in England and everywhere.”

”I need to always improve and work harder. We continue working. Tottenham have an amazing stadium and amazing fans, so we needed to fight and win the game.”

When a player performs poorly, such a performance instils a great deal of confidence in him; Jackson needed this. The 22-year-old hasn’t been very good since joining our team, but he has shown flashes of brilliance in a few games. This hat-trick ought to motivate the forward to maintain his current pace.

If Jackson hadn’t squandered other opportunities and the other goal hadn’t been flagged offside, he might have scored five goals but a hattrick against league leaders is something big thing and hopefully, he will continue with this form. On Sunday, we play Manchester City, which will be a very important game for us. Hopefully, Jackson will be raring to command the attack.
