Chelsea favourites to sign 22-year-old Manchester City target playing in Italy

Chelsea closing in on reaching an agreement with Napoli for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia signing

According to Calciomercato.it, Chelsea are now in the driver seat to sign Napoli sensation Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who has now become a household name at the Serie A club after helping them win the Scudetto last season.

The Georgian registered 14 goals and 17 assists in 43 games across competitions last campaign, turning heads across Europe. Despite being pursued by many clubs last summer, the 22-year-old remained at Napoli.

Now it appears he won’t remain long at Napoli, as Chelsea are now close to reaching an agreement with Napoli to sign the youngster. Napoli are said to be demanding €100 million for the future.

The Blues have been spending massively since the change of ownership and have broken the British transfer record twice when they bought Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.

They aren’t shy about spending big, like Manchester City and Real Madrid, and now they want to add more creativity to their attacking line with the signing of Kvaratskhelia.

However, taking the Georgian away from Diego Armando Maradona Stadium will be challenging, as he has a contract with Napoli until 2027, and the Blues are also keen on signing his teammate Victor Osimhen.

Both will undoubtedly be quite expensive; therefore, the Blues must proceed with vigilance while spending a great deal of money in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

A striker is more necessary for us than a winger. Since we already have Christopher Nkunku, Raheem Sterling, and Mykhaylo Mudryk on the left, there’s no reason to pursue Kvaratskhelia if we also want to sign Osimhen. Since we spent a lot of money during the last transfer window, we need to be extra careful this time around to avoid breaking the FFP regulation and facing repercussions thereafter.
