“Always tough when you come from Chelsea” – Former Blues star opens up on summer transfer to London rivals

Kai Havertz thinks Chelsea’s past is the reason Arsenal fans haven’t shown trust in him

Kai Havertz feels his time at Chelsea is the reason Arsenal fans have yet to put their faith in the German forward since his move to Emirates Stadium.

The 24-year-old moved to Arsenal for a fee of around £65 million after three years at Chelsea. However, his start to life at Gunners hasn’t been all well, and the forward has only scored one goal so far.

The former Bayern Leverkusen forward is yet to win over fans and feels their full support will allow the player to perform to his peak. At Chelsea, he never had a consistent run and failed to stamp his authority during his time at Stamford Bridge.

He has been a Premier League player for a while, so he should not have any trouble adjusting to the league, but it seems he wasn’t cut out for such types of teams. Despite being 24 years old and about to enter his late 20s, there will be concerns about why he hasn’t performed consistently throughout the season.

The German forward feels he can reach his prime at Arsenal once the fans show full faith in him, (h/t Mirror), as he told the Arsenal website:

“It’s very important to feel trust from the fans. It’s always tough when you come from Chelsea because they are big rivals, so it can take weeks to get some trust from the fans. But goals and good games can help me get it, and I will always give 100 per cent in the games and training sessions. I think they will recognise this as well, which is very important. I’m really happy to be here.”

Only when you perform in each game, which Havertz hasn’t done yet, will fans start to trust you? He had trouble at Chelsea, and he’s having the same problems at Arsenal. He won’t be a regular starter at Arsenal either if he keeps up his current performance.

Havertz started playing in the Premier League in 2019 and will mark five years of participation next year. He hasn’t consistently been productive enough. His performance has been sporadic, which raises certain issues concerning his characteristics.
