“The first goal is initially a mistake”- Frank Leboeuf points finger at two Chelsea players for role in shock Brentford defeat

Frank Leboeuf blamed Axel Disasi and Noni Madueke for Chelsea 2-0 defeat against Brentford

Frank Leboeuf blasted Noni Madueke and Axel Disasi for their mistakes in Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Brentford last weekend. After our impressive performance against Arsenal, many supporters would have believed it to be an easy victory, but the Blues looked distasteful against the Bees and blew a lot of opportunities.

And when you don’t take your chances, you’re bound to get punished for that, which the Bees certainly did as they found the back of the net after halftime and wrapped up the game in injury time.

It was a sour defeat for us because, in the past three games, we were so good that even in this match, we were a better side, but a lack of potency in front of the goal cost us.

If we want to finish in the top four this season, we shouldn’t miss those chances because what’s the point of performing better when you’re not scoring goals?

Leboeuf expressed his dissatisfaction with the Blues’ lack of aggression in front of goal, and he also had criticism for two Chelsea players after the game, (h/t Metro) telling ESPN:

‘The first goal is initially a mistake from [Marc] Cucurella, but it’s then an even bigger mistake from Disasi and Madueke at the far post. ‘That was bad communication, bad covering, bad everything. It’s crazy.’’

Axel Disasi of Chelsea

Disasi is tall, and being beaten in areal duels is really disappointing because he should be aware of what is behind him, and that is unquestionably a lack of communication from the players. Cucurella’s man-marking in the game was dubious because he frequently failed to mark the player, and he needs to do better. The matches were lost because of these little errors, but maybe they will learn from them.

We had plenty of chances to win the game, but as usual, we lacked precision in front of the goal. If we are battling top sides, then we have to be potent in front of the net; otherwise, it will be just another dismal season for us.
