Talented 26-year-old winger Chelsea wanted in the summer set to sign a new contract with Brighton

Kaoru Mitoma turned down Chelsea offer in the summer and is set to sign a new deal with Brighton & Hove Albion

According to Manchester Evening News, Kaoru Mitoma is set to pen down a new deal with Brighton & Hove Albion despite interest from top Premier League clubs, and it is understood Chelsea also made an approach for the forward in the summer to no avail.

Liverpool, Manchester United, and Manchester City are among the other clubs keen on signing him, but it’s unlikely he will leave the Seagulls with him closing in on a new deal. City boast of a vast number of wingers, such as Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, Jeremy Doku, and top prodigy Oscar Bobb.

It seems logical that Mitoma wants to stay at Brighton given that they were one of the top teams last season, and challenged the likes of Liverpool, and Manchester United. This season, they have also been outstanding. However, they have experienced a decline in their performance, and if this pattern continues, he may consider quitting the team in January.

United and Liverpool, however, might be strengthening their left wings. Currently, United have Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, but Rashford’s recent decline in performance may prompt United to hunt for a winger.

While Chelsea have three possibilities for the left wing in Mykhaylo Mudryk, Raheem Sterling, and Christopher Nkunku, Mitoma offers something different. Sterling and Nkunku also play in different positions.

Kaoru Mitoma’s talent is visible, and Chelsea might sign him if there is a chance. However, dealing with Brighton over a player’s transfer is undoubtedly difficult, and they are bound to ask for a high price for him. Therefore, it would be good for us to search for other options.
