Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Chelsea could target more experienced players in the next transfer windows
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea might consider exploring moves for more seasoned players in the future transfer windows after having signed plenty of youngsters in the recent ones.
The West Londoners have spent the majority of their cash recruiting young players. A new approach has been set by Boehly, who wants to build the club around youthful players. It seems like they are building for the future at the cost of current success.
It will take time for the project to kick off, and Chelsea fans have never been the most patient ones going around. Since the club is struggling to perform with a set of young players, there have been widespread calls to add more experience in the mix.
Most clubs combine a few young players with a veteran squad to ensure that whoever steps up is promoted to the senior team. Chelsea though have a very young squad along with Thiago Silva and it clearly is not working. They need more experienced players if they want to be successful right now.
Romano has revealed that the Blues want to be more flexible in the transfer window and look for seasoned players as well, as he said in his exclusive column for the Daily Briefing:
“I’m also aware of some Chelsea transfer rumours about a possible change in approach this January that could see them target more experienced players. However, from what I’m hearing, it’s too early to know for sure—nothing has been decided yet, and more meetings will take place in the next few weeks, especially between November and December, to decide how to act and what kind of signings are needed.”
We have recruited some great young players, and they require some experienced players to mentor them during practices, games, and in the locker room. Senior players are extremely helpful and accelerate the development of young players. Regardless, Mauricio Pochettino, who has experience coaching young players, will need at least two seasons to develop this Chelsea team’s raw talent and make them into a competitive beast.

Our primary problem right now is scoring goals, so hiring a seasoned centre-forward would be preferable to using another young player. Expect Chelsea to be fully invested in signing a striker in January.
