“Not even one single person”- Inter chief says the club have already forgotten Chelsea misfit Romelu Lukaku

Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta admits they have already moved on from Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku

Wherever Romelu Lukaku has left any club, he has caused controversy there, and now Giuseppe Marotta has admitted that Inter Milan have already forgotten about the Chelsea loanee who is currently at AS Roma.

Everyone is familiar with the problematic interview he gave when playing for Chelsea, in which he stated he wanted to join Inter. Chelsea wanted a permanent move but ended up loaning him to the Serie A club in the summer of 2022.

It seemed the former Everton striker would join Inter on a long-term basis, but he made yet another unwise decision that caused Inter to withdraw from the race to sign him. He eventually reunited with former boss Jose Mourinho at the Stadio Olimpico.

Juventus were also keen but the transfer to the Allianz Stadium fell through. It appeared like he would spend the season with Chelsea until he was acquired on loan by AS Roma. Nobody is certain whether he will make a permanent move after this season is over.

Now Inter Milan CEO says he is a forgotten start at Inter and further made an honest admission regarding Lukaku’s situation, telling Gazzetta, quoted by Fabrizio Romano:

“Lukaku represents our past; it’s just our past. No one is thinking about him at Inter, not even one single person. His behaviour? It happens in football. It’s not the first time it happens.”

Apart from his performance, Lukaku has always been an unpopular figure in Blue. Every time he left a team, he did it in acrimonious terms, making them lament signing him. Additionally, he was never a consistent player and constantly encountered difficulties regarding consistency in a Chelsea jersey. It is fair to say that the Belgian is far more trouble than he is worth.

He created trouble at Chelsea, which made us repent of hiring him, and he then delivered that controversial interview, which turned fans against him. He was so eager to join Inter that, after opening negotiations with Juventus, he ended up disappointing them. The Blues are better off without him, so hopefully he doesn’t cause another controversy at Roma and they end up bringing him on for the long haul.
