“I hope it is nothing”- Pochettino reveals the latest on Chelsea duo amidst injury scares

Mauricio Pochettino plays down Mykhaylo Mudryk and Armando Broja injury fears

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino hopes that the injury sustained by Mykhaylo Mudryk isn’t serious after the forward was replaced in the 46th minute following his first goal for the Blues in the 2-0 win over Fulham.

Armando Broja was also on the scoresheet as Chelsea defeated the Cottagers 2-0. The striker also hobbled off in the 65th minute, leaving the Blues fans gasping for breath.

However, the Albanian substitution was precautionary, given the striker has recently made a recovery and seems not fully fit to play an entire game. After a string of disappointing performances, the Blues finally saw their team earn three well-deserved points.

When Mudryk was brought in last January, he had trouble making a statement. However, during the previous three games, the forward has shown significant progress in play, and last night, he scored a much merited goal.

However, fans will be reeling that both Mudryk and Broja were replaced. Thankfully, Pochettino has provided an update on their injuries as he told talkSPORT (h/t Evening Standard):

“No injury—just a precaution. I hope with Mykhailo it’s not a big issue, because he felt something in the first half, the Blues boss said. I hope it is nothing, and he’ll be available on Saturday. It’s something in his quad in the first half. He didn’t feel comfortable playing.”

Broja’s substitution was understandable given he has just recovered from a serious injury and will take a few matches before he is fit to play an entire game,. It was wise for Pochettino to take him off and ease him into regular football.

Meanwhile, Mudryk’s injury isn’t hopefully serious. He continues to improve and will be upbeat having broken his Chelsea duck. The last thing we need now is for an injury to derail his momentum.
