“A massive advantage” Jurgen Klopp reveals key advantage that Chelsea and Tottenham have this season

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have an edge because they are not competing in European tournaments

Jurgen Klopp feels Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have a massive advantage as both sides will be without European competition this season and will have enough time to prepare for other matches.

The Blues finished 12th in the Premier League last campaign, while the Spurs ended up eighth in the league and both missed out on securing a place in European competition.

However, Spurs exemplary start to the new season under Ange Postecoglou has seen them remain fourth in the table, while Chelsea are languishing in 14th place. Liverpool have also had a smooth start to the new campaign as they remain second in the standings.

Klopp, who finished fifth last season, is playing in the Europa League, which will see them play midweek. Klopp side will face Tottenham today, and he feels both London clubs will benefit from no European games, (h/t Metro) as he said:

“Chelsea and Tottenham have no European football. Two heavyweights not in European football have the whole week to train when others travel. It’s a massive advantage. Getting into the Champions League this year will be a massive, difficult task because they will be well rested.’’

Klopp comments say way makes sense because we are not prepared to compete in that tournament given our current state; therefore, it’s advantageous that we aren’t in any European competitions, so Mauricio Pochettino will have more time to spend working with the team. This helps us be ready for the games and recover in time for them. It will at some point benefit us as the other clubs who will play in European tournaments midweek will get exhausted, while we will have enough time to prepare for other games.

Under the Australian manager, Spurs have undoubtedly undergone significant change, and Postecoglou has worked up a storm. Given how impressive they were against Arsenal and drew the match 2-2. We could certainly witness the same against Liverpool, as they look like a side to challenge any big team in the Premier League.
