“Going to feel like a brand new signing”- Ben Jacobs gives his view on 25-year-old injured Chelsea star

Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku is currently recovering from a knee injury

Ben Jacobs has given his view on the comeback of Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku from injury and said he will feel like a brand new signing once he returns to action.

The former RB Leipzig player hobbled off during Chelsea’s pre-season game against Borussia Dortmund with a knee injury and is expected to be out until December.

The 25-year-old damaged the meniscus in his knee and was forced to undergo knee surgery, but has already started his recovery in the gym with light weights.

However, the Blues will perceive his comeback as an important catalyst because Mauricio Pochettino made Nkunku the focal point during the preseason, and the Argentine manager will benefit greatly from his presence again.

Chelsea have a great depth in attack and had Nkunku not been injured, the Blues’ results might have been different, as he would mainly operate as a striker. He might have been efficient in front of goal.

Ben Jacobs has also given his verdict on Nkunku’s return and feels it will be a turning point for Chelsea. Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said:

“When you add Nkunku to the mix, Chelsea suddenly has a little bit of depth and quality. Nkunku is going to feel like a brand new signing for Chelsea. He is effectively a brand new signing for Chelsea because he picked up his injury so early and in the pre-season period.”

We have a sturdy attack, as we have seen in previous games, but our forward line lacks finishing, which Christopher Nkunku’s return will fix. The Frenchman boasts an innate ability to score goals, and his return will be an important incentive for us to raise the bar.

He was brilliant in the preseason and concluded last season as the Bundesliga joint-top scorer. His return will undoubtedly feel like a brand-new signing for us and enhance our final-third finishing ability.
