“Less stress’’- Chelsea legend outlines his plans in management amidst Rangers link

Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard says he taking time off from management amidst Rangers’ interest

Chelsea legend and former boss Frank Lampard has turned down hopes of becoming manager of Scottish Premiership side Rangers as he is taking some time off from the front office.

Rangers, who sacked Michael Beale after his dismal start to the new season, are looking to appoint a new manager. Lampard is among the candidates to take charge of the Glasgow City Crown as they seek stability to challenge arch-rivals Celtic.

Lampard has been without a club after finishing his interim role as Chelsea’s manager last season, where the Blues finished 12th in the Premier League table. It is fair to say that his performance at the Bridge in his second spell was pretty poor.

However, the former Everton boss has claimed he has no intention to manage a club currently as he is enjoying his time off, (h/t Daily Mail) as he told Sky Sports:

”Yeah, good, less stress. ‘ I think it comes with the territory of managing, especially the stresses of the Premier League and the expectations in any job. I think it’s important that you try and find the time out of the game to recharge a bit and enjoy things you don’t get the chance to do when you’re working, so I’m probably in that spot at the minute.”

Lampard is truly a Blues legend but one has to admit that his previous two stints at Chelsea and Everton are nothing to write home about. Moving to Rangers will see him compared with a former rival, Steven Gerrard, who admittedly worked wonders at the Ibrox. Lampard is better off honing his skills before taking the leap into management again.

Given that football jobs require you to spend the majority of your time away from your family, perhaps he needs more time away from the sport. Frank Lampard’s views make sense from a personal view as well. Before he feels prepared to run a club, he too needs some time.

Although his performance as a manager hasn’t been great, he has done okay, so taking the Rangers position might be preferable for him because it will allow him to regain his status as a manager.

He could start over in management, but that would be entirely up to him. Lampard is a promising manager but lacks refinement. But since he is still young and has lots of time, he needs to start over at a decent club before leading a major outfit.
