Chelsea linked with a transfer move for celebrated Bundesliga full-back

Chelsea are weighing a move for Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies

According to 90min (h/t Football.London), Following the injury to Ben Chilwell, Chelsea are exploring the market for a left-back and Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies has been linked with a move to West London.

However, the Blues will face competition from Real Madrid and Manchester City for his acquisition, but it remains to be seen how much Bayern will demand. The Germans, for their part, are keen to keep hold of their star man and are preparing a new deal.

It’s unlikely that they will let their key player leave so readily, but if they do, the German club will demand an excessive sum, and there will be competition from other top teams for his services.

Davies is a left-back of the modern era who has speed, can defend, and poses a threat in attack. His signing for the Blues will be enormous and upgrade their options in the role. The fact that he is only 22 and a crucial starter for Bayern shows his immense ceiling as a player.

Chelsea, though, have Ian Maatsen, who has barely operated as a left-back, as Mauricio Pochettino has used Levi Colwill in that area. While Real Madrid have Davide Alaba in the role, adding Davies will certainly future-proof Carlo Ancelotti’s options for the near future.

It will be challenging to sign Davies, but Real and City are both now performing well, and their performances may be able to persuade the left-back to sign with them, especially given that they are both competing in the Champions League this year. Our new owners have demonstrated that they are no less than when it comes to spending money; therefore, they can compete with them if it comes to shelling out money.

The main worry will be whether we can persuade him to join our project because it might take one or two seasons for it to fully take off. Hopefully, we can come out on top and land one of Europe’s best full-backs to their roster.
