“Avoid these things”- Pochettino sends clear message to Chelsea star after partying clip emerges

Mauricio Pochettino feels Chelsea players need to avoid partying in middle of season after Noni Madueke incident

Mauricio Pochettino warned Chelsea players and claimed they would get the same treatment they gave Noni Madueke, who was spotted partying when he was injured.

The U21 international hasn’t featured in Chelsea’s last three games due to a minor injury and is likely to miss the encounter against Fulham on Monday after the former Southampton manager’s recent update on his recovery.

Right after Chelsea’s 0-0 draw against Bournemouth, a Madueke video went viral on social media where he was seen partying, and the forward was criticised for his actions. But it appears amends have been made, and we can see Madueke back in action.

The Argentine manager was questioned regarding the 21-year-old’s availability against Fulham and was also asked about his elusive video, (h/t Football.London) Pochettino said:

“In my opinion, he is working hard to try and recover. He came back from the national break 10 days ago. Now he is well. He is trying to be on the same level as the team.”

“This video—we were talking about that—it’s a thing you need to avoid. All of the players need to know that when you are a Chelsea player, you need to avoid these things. It wasn’t a big issue, but we need to avoid these types of situations. He is recovering from the national team, and we will see if he is fit.”

We can only hope that Madueke has learned his lesson and won’t make the same mistake twice since partying in the middle of the season is not acceptable; if it had taken place between breaks, it would have made sense. We are unaware of the actions that have been taken against him, but Pochettino needs to ensure that these actions have repercussions.

Of course, players have lives outside the football field and it isn’t a bad thing to let off steam once in a while. But players should also read the room.

When they cost clubs millions and are not contributing at a time when the team is clearly suffering on the pitch, some fans may not take lightly to such incidents.

Madueke will be itching to return to the pitch and show critics what he is made of. But for now, we hope he stays away from the spotlight and focuses on returning to his best form as soon as possible.
