“They are not magic” – Chelsea boss explains why he keeps lemons in his office

Mauricio Pochettino reveals why he puts lemons in his Chelsea office

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has explained in an interview why he keeps lemons in his office and has said that it helps to absorb the negative energy around the club. The Argentinian manager is of the opinion that it worked at Tottenham Hotspur.

At Spurs, it took him plenty of seasons to transform them into a top side. He will also be hoping it works at Chelsea after the team has been in crisis recently with several injuries and poor form since last season.

The Blues have commenced their new season with just one win in five Premier League games, and pressure is already mounting to change the tide in the next game.

Apart from his training and other things, the Argentine manager keeps a bowl of lemons to absorb all the negative energy, and he later explained during a press conference, (h/t Metro) and further said:

‘They started to work after two years at Tottenham. Give time to the lemons. It is something that we all believe in. If you want to have good energy, you need to implement all the things that you believe in. I believe in the lemons, but at Tottenham, they started to work after one and a half, two years. They need a long time; they are not magic, but more than ever, I still believe in them.”

It’s good to have faith, and if Mauricio Pochettino believes it can truly help soak up negative energy, then we can only hope that it works. Chelsea are already blighted by injuries and poor performances, which has put us in a difficult situation. The fans are growing incredibly impatient and the manager will know that he needs to turn things around real soon.

The lemons might have started working two years into his spell at Tottenham but there is no certainty that he will be granted the same kind of luxury at Chelsea. Considering Todd Boehly’s cut-throat approach, he might not have the patience to wait until Pochettinos’s lemons start to work.

The good news is that our performance has significantly improved, and once our strikers start scoring goals, we will truly turn into a dominant team. Once all the injured players make a full recovery, Pochettino will have an elite team that is prepared to once again dominate the Premier League and compete for the Champions League.
