Nottingham boss urges players to show ‘strong mentality’ against Chelsea

Chelsea will face Nottingham Forest at Saturday lunchtime

Steve Cooper has encouraged his players to display strong performances when they take on Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime following their 3-2 defeat to Manchester United.

Since Forest have only won once in their last three Premier League contests—a 2-1 victory over Sheffield United followed by losses to Arsenal and United—Cooper has challenged the players to provide the highest level of play possible against their upcoming opponents.

Meanwhile, Chelsea also have only one win in their past two matches after they prevailed 3-0 against Luton Town. After a 1-1 draw with Liverpool and a 3-1 defeat to West Ham United.

The Blues will face a tough side who have been narrowly defeated and almost overcame United, and Pochettino will hope to continue his winning streak.

This has led to Cooper calling on his players to put up a great performance when they travel to North London to face Chelsea. Speaking to the media, (h/t Daily Mail) he said:

‘’People have looked at our run of away games against the top teams in the league. There’s another on Saturday, and I want everyone on the pitch to have the right, strong mentality.’’

We shouldn’t take Nottingham Forest casually since they did a tremendous job, and we will be hosting a good squad that gave both Arsenal and Manchester United a tough game. They always seem to score on the counter-attack, so we will need to play at the apex of our game against them. But now that we are gradually getting into a routine, our confidence has undoubtedly grown after our 3-0 victory over Luton.
