“Very young squad”- Pochettino calls for patience as Chelsea face questionable start to the season

Mauricio Pochettino feels the Chelsea squad is too young and will need time to gel together

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has advised fans to have patience with the squad’s performance following their 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge at the weekend.

Pochettino feels the current squad is too young and will take time to gel with each other. However, he is optimistic that the results will eventually come once all players adjust to the league. We are hopeful that this will happen sooner rather than later.

The Argentine manager has come under scrutiny after Chelsea lost their second game in just four matches, and their only Premier League win has come against bottom placed Luton Town.

With an international break in between, the former Southampton head coach now has plenty of time to find answers to Chelsea’s poor performance before they return to action. We cannot afford to spend a second successive season out of the top four and further fall behind the clubs who have enjoyed a good start.

However, he has urged patience from the fans and hopes they will see a different side once the club returns for the next game. (h/t Express), He further said:

“When you lose a game, the things that are negative appear, but you know a process like this is always ups and downs. We have a very young squad. We need to prove we can score and deal with the situation. Of course, we need to be more clinical in front of the goal and not make the same mistake as today when we conceded the chance to Nottingham.”

Pochettino’s comment is very sensible because he is aware of the situation at Chelsea. He understands that managing a team with a large proportion of young players will take time and patience. Because Pochettino coached such young players at his former clubs and assisted them in becoming elite players, we should get off his back and let him build his foundation.

Although the season has only just begun, we have already displayed excellent play in every game, despite the disappointing results, which will undoubtedly work in our favour if cooperation among players improves. But we must have patience.
